Sar pass trek, 5th -10th May 2019

Good Morning all,

Without wasting time, Here i have come to share my Sar pass trek experience with all of you.

I am a regular trekker, i have done many treks at Sahyadri range(Near Mumbai), in western Ghat. As i have decides that every year i will do at least one North Trek , basically longer and tougher trek. And luckily i am able to do that till the time. In 2017 i did Roopkund, which was tough as compare to Sar pass(I know i didn't share that with you , i will do it soon). Any ways, I will try to follow this in coming years too.
Sar Pass Trek is a moderate high altitude trek done primarily during the months of of April to June The trek is situated in the state of Himachal in the Kullu region.Endowed with diverse terrain and rich in nature’s beauty, Sar Pass Trek is a perfect trek destination for beginners. Steeped in great beauty, the trail passes through thick forests, lush green meadows, rustic villages, and snow clad mountains gracing the backdrop.
The trek commences from Kasol, a paradise for the trek lovers from all around the globe. The city is beautiful and it is called mini israel .If you are looking for something thrilling yet easy, Sar Pass Trek is an ideal destination to begin your trek expedition.
I don't want to share the whole itinerary here, i will explain it in short.
I went Sar pass with Kailash Rath . They were really good, very well organized and very punctual about time.
1st day Kasol Base Camp: After travelling from Mumbai- Delhi and from Delhi - Kasol, i was amazed by seeing its beauty. Such a lovely city . Here met my trek mates who were completely strangers to me . We introduce with each other, As we are going to stay with each other for next 5 days. After food we had acclimatization walk at Kasol. We roam around Kasol market too. After induction , we all were ready for our trek which is going to start from next day morning. i was very excited.

2nd day : Trek Gharan village (4-5 hrs): We stared at 8 in morning after having good break fast and packed lunch. We had to walk 9 kms and it tooks 5 hrs for us to reach Gharan village campsite altitude was 7700 ft. It was beautiful campsite surrounded by pine trees . There were gorgeous landscape. we had great time there. We had camp fire too over there and we shared ghost stores and personal experiences during campfire.  It was getting more cold as we are going high.

3rd day:Grahan to Mung Thach (5-6 hrs): Mung Tach is at 11200 ft. Trek was amazing through forest. Pleasant weather with chilling winds. it was very pleasant. Mung Thach is declared as wild life sanctuary. We were experiencing too much cold as temperature was dropping drastically. we were enjoying everything. We got training how to wear garters and how to walk in snow. At every campsite food was really yummy and delicious.

4th day : Mung Thach to Nagaru(4 -5hrs):This was bit tough route. Nagaru is at 12500 ft. Terrain was good, we started walking in snow. When we reached Nagaru Camp site , view was mesmerizing. Our tent was all surrounded my snow. Temperature was chilling bad. It was very tough to survive there. Next day was Summit, so we have to sleep early and gets up at 3 am in morning.

5th day : Nagaru to Biskeri Thach via Sar Pass (7-8 hours):
It was tough day, have to walk in snow only. it was very steep route. As one reaches the top, the view is exhilarating on 1388 ft. After that the slide is the most fun and completely safe as long as some precautions are taken. The slide takes one as far as a kilometre to a gentler slope of the valley. Valley arrives after walking for an hour from Sar Pass. We will then continue the trek through some dense rhododendron bushes towards Biskeri Thach campsite. Overnight stay in tents at Biskeri Thach.

6th day: Biskeri Thach to Barshaini and drive back to Kasol base camp ( 4-5 hours): Biskeri presents a sublime view of the pine forests, the majestic mountains and the lovely grasslands. From Biskeri we will descend towards Pulga village. The descend is easy and takes around 4-5 hours to reach Pulga. From Pulga we will continue to descend to cross Parvati river and then climb to reach village Barshaini. Jeep ride to Kasol base camp and departure.

This way i completed my one more bucket list trek in Himalaya !!! More such trek are yet to do .
I hope you all love this post. feel free to comment. Stay healthy 😊

Snow... We still have a few months without it. ;) Yesterday was the first day of heat wave. Today we had a storm, so the air is fresh. :)
